Vickers Distance Education offers two courses approved by the Department of Social Development qualifying people for work either in a Special Care Home or for a Home Care Agency in New Brunswick, Canada.The courses consist of 5 assignments, 5 tests, 3 workshops (2 for the Agency course), 70 hours on-the-job training and result in either a "Health Care Aide for Special Care Home" or "Health Care Aide for Home Care Agency" certificate.At present, September 23rd, 2015, the total cost of the course is $700.00 and is paid on a per test, per workshop basis with only the textbook + registration fee paid up front. At times, used textbooks are available to further reduce the cost.A lot of people working in this field have gotten their training on the job, and have a wealth of knowledge but just haven't had the framework or opportunity to translate those "learned" skills into a recognized certificate. Vickers Distance Education's courses provide that framework. I'm a maritime person training maritime people.
