Inspiration for An Drochaid Eadarainn stems from the Nova Scotia Highland Village Museum's annual outreach program Stòras a'Bhaile, a Gaelic Folk Life School developed under the leadership of Seumas Watson, Manager of Interpretation at the Highland Village in collaboration with community partners. The concept for An Drochaid Eadarainn is rooted in participatory principles and facilitates inter-activity as a method for developing cultural content. Users are able to communicate with each other online and contribute traditional representations - songs, stories, music etc. - socialize, share, transmit and exchange news related to living Gaelic culture. The website also aims to encourage the maintenance of Nova Scotia's cultural assets as a renewable resource for community economic and social development
