Pet Wellness Exams & Consultations
At West Roseville Veterinary Hospital (WRVH) we believe that preventative care is the foundation for a healthy, happy, long-lived pet. In order to fulfill our moral and ethical obligation to recommend the highest level of care for your beloved pet, we provide thorough "head to tail" pet wellness examinations and offer specialist consultations at our facility on a case-by-case basis.Annual Wellness Exams
For adult animals in apparent good health, we suggest a yearly complete physical examination. Our Nurses will work with you to create an individualized risk assessment of your pet's environment - tailored to where you live, emerging disease risks in our community, your pet's interaction with other pets and wildlife, travel plans, and other lifestyle considerations. Your pet's Veterinarian will then determine a proper preventative health program, including a vaccination schedule tailored specifically for your pet. By using personalized pet health protocols, our doctors can pinpoint specific preventive health care needs for your pet.Puppy & Kitten Packages
WRVH also offers comprehensive pediatric care for younger animals. Our Puppy & Kitten Packages* include an initial wellness visit one of our doctors who will examine your pet and discuss any health or behavioral concerns, vaccinations, dewormings, an initial intestinal parasite screening, and first-dose heartworm and/or flea prevention. As with children, puppies and kittens require vaccinations to build their immunity in order to fight off diseases. These vaccines are administered every three weeks starting around eight weeks of age and continuing through at least 4 months of age.*Full payment of the Puppy or Kitten Package is required at the initial visit. The package is valid for puppies and kittens less than 12 weeks of age and does not include: sick/ill patient exams, prescriptions, Lyme or Giardia vaccines, fiv/felv testing, microchips or spay/neuter surgery.Geriatric Pet Healthcare
Generally, a dog or cat older than 7 years of age is considered to be middle-aged because our pets age seven times faster than we do. In other words, an 8 year old pet would be 56 years old in "people years".Because cats and dogs age so rapidly, major health changes can occur in a short period of time. Many diseases can be treated if caught before irreversible changes have occurred. We strongly recommend twice-annual physical examinations for senior pets to help us diagnose, treat or prevent problems before they become life-threatening.We offer a Senior Pet Package** for a comprehensive evaluation of your older pet's health at a 20% discount of the regular costs. This package includes a full physical examination, complete blood count with blood chemistry profile and urinalysis, intestinal parasite screen, electrocardiogram (ECG) and a single-view radiograph. Included is a day stay at our hospital as well as the administration of one vaccine of your choice.**Full payment of the Senior Pet Package is required at the time of service to take advantage of the 20% savings.
Vaccinations
Our Veterinarians work with you to determine a vaccination schedule tailored specifically for your pet, based upon risk assessment of your pet's environment. We carry the following vaccines: DHPP (distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, parvo), FVRCP (feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, panleukopenia), FeLV (feline leukemia), Rabies (including PureVax version for cats), Bordetella, Leptospirosis, Lyme and Giardia.
Laboratory Diagnostics
West Roseville Veterinary Hospital offers both in-house diagnostics and referred testing. At our hospital facility we perform in-house abbreviated blood panels and cytology as well as blood glucose level monitoring, heartworm tests, fiv/felv testing, fungal culture, and the detection of parvovirus and giardia in feces. More comprehensive blood chemistry and electrolyte profiles, urinalysis and stone analysis as well cyto/histo samples for specialist consultation, are sent by twice-daily courier to IDEXX Reference Laboratories. We utilize diagnostic laboratory tests to not only diagnose disease, but to also monitor many medical therapies such as animals taking thyroid hormones, anti-seizure medications or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications for conditions such as arthritis. We strongly recommend preanesthetic testing prior to an anesthetic event, so as to minimize risks and ensure the safety of your patient prior to administering anesthesia. Preanesthetic testing gives our Veterinarians the information needed to determine if our your pet can safely undergo anesthesia or whether there are any underlying health issues that could put your pet at greater risk by means of a minimum database of diagnostic baseline information specific to your pet. This information help us to identify potential underlying abnormalities, thus enabling us to modify procedures and protocols to ensure a safe surgical event and rapid recovery.
Diagnostic Imaging
We utilize radiology (x-rays) as a non-invasive diagnostic tool for the evaluation of bony structures and soft tissue, and monitoring of a variety of medical conditions. We also utilize electrocardiography (ECG or EKG) to record the electrical activity of the heart as a means of measuring and diagnosing abnormal rhythms and weaknesses in different parts of the heart muscle.

Routine & Specialty Surgical Services
West Roseville Veterinary Hospital's doctors provide a wide range of surgical services varying from spay and neuter surgeries to orthopedic procedures, and are able to handle more advanced cases by way of on-demand board certified veterinary surgeons. Our surgical suite has been designed to handle any foreseeable emergency in a professional and expeditious manner; thereby, minimizing pain and trauma to the patient. Our facilities boast the latest in isofuorane gas anesthetic equipment, and monitoring devices.Prior to surgery, each pet is examined to detect any existing medical conditions that may endanger your pet's health. Diagnostic tests may be recommended in order to get a more complete picture of your pet's health before administering anesthesia. We utilize a variety of pain control medications before, during and after surgery to ensure that your pet is as comfortable as possible.

Complete Dental Prophylaxis
Periodontal disease is the most common infectious disease in both dogs and cats. If left untreated, that can mean pain, halitosis and tooth loss. Chronic infection in the oral cavity can spread harmful bacteria to the bloodstream and infect the heart, lungs, liver and kidneys. Fortunately, most periodontal disease can be prevented by daily plaque removal and regular professional care.At West Roseville Veterinary Hospital, we perform periodontal cleaning under general anesthesia and follow-up with detailed instructions on maintaining good oral health from our nurses.

Pet ID Microchip
West Roseville Veterinary Hospital implants AVID® microchips (roughly the size of a grain of rice) deeply under the skin between the shoulder blades for permanent identification.
