Christmas shopping | Trinkies

Years ago I set out to have a battery free Christmas.   It wasn’t easy with five young kids but I did pull it off.   I was so tired of buying batteries for all these electronic games the kids had.  The cost really adds up and even though, I’m not seriously into “being green” I do think about the environment.

So, this past Sunday I noticed that we only have a short 90 days until Christmas!  I thought I’d better get going on some of the gift buying, so that I’m not out on Christmas Eve feeling anything but the holiday spirit.  I sat down and made a list and checked it twice and thought I would start with my grand-kids.

I wanted to find them both something that was fun and didn’t take batteries and happened upon a site which has the coolest !  I found this super cute   for my oldest grandchild to have for when she comes and stays the night with us.

The way in which it was said created a dilemma because, I don’t want my baby girl to wear makeup but at the same time I realize it’s important for her to feel part of the squad. Despite the fact that I was looking for the clown car to arrive any moment to pick up the girls, they did an excellent job cheering. I ended up letting her wear some very light pink lip gloss and some glitter powder, both very subtle but enough that she was happy.

Stay at The Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, Co. Growing up my parents worked there and it was like my own personal play ground I’ve never actually stayed there though. Buy a home on land with a “party barn” so that when all six of my children are grown, I can have them, their spouses and my grandchildren over to have great times.

Over the years though, friends and online acquaintances started calling me Trinkies so, while I was ok with leaving the online jewelry business, I just couldn’t give up my acquired nickname. After finding my passion there and after much deliberation, I decided to sell out most of my jewelry stock and give up the online store.

On top of my own problems, then I have all these children and them wanting me, the woman they laugh at when their dad moves my coffee cup on purpose just so they can watch me wander around looking for it, to remember things. On the plus side, there is one thing I do know the location of, and that is the file containing my children’s birth certificates and immunization records.
