The PDCheck is a compact, stand alone, global diagnostic system for the condition assessment of medium and high voltage electrical systems, based on the detection and analysis of Partial Discharges. PDCheck has 3 PD acquisition channels, 1 synchronization channel (phase reference) and a digital communication port by which 7 acquisition channels for other diagnostic parameters (e.g. voltage, current, temperature, humidity, vibrations, dissolved gases in oil, tan-delta) can be monitored and analyzed for diagnostic purposes. It is therefore a general purpose platform for Global Monitoring of electrical systems, supporting many different sensors with a unique apparatus.
PDCheck has 1 auxiliary relay output and several smart trending and alarm options are available (the logic is programmable and can be customized). A compact flash memory card allows a safe and large data storage. Both raw data and derived parameters can be stored and analyzed. PDCheck can provide a continuous stream of raw or pre-processed data. Concerning the specific PD sensing capabilities, Signals are sampled through a 100MS/s digitizer, the complete waveform can be made available to the operator for further processing, alternatively PDCheck can calculate pulse features so that data stream can be optimized and, at the same time, PD phenomena separation (trough time-frequency mapping) and noise rejection can be achieved. The system is equipped with an Ethernet communication and optic fiber interfaces and can be managed through either laptop or palmtop. A full remote control is available through Internet or GSM modem. E-mail alerting systems can be devised. PDCheck integrates the functions of a PD detection and analysis system, a digital oscilloscope and a spectrum analyzer…all in one! In fact, the system can acquire PD patterns, visualize and analyze waveforms and derive pulse spectra.
