How Superior Windmills Work

A Superior Windmill is made up of a highly effective direct drive energy transfer system that has very few moving parts. Making its operation efficient, reliable and easy to maintain.

The Superior Windmill air compressor is a direct drive design from the turbine to the diaphragm assembly. We utilize sealed ball bearings in our heavy crankshaft and connecting rods to provide excellent reliability, smooth running and low maintenance.

Air flow is produced using a molded rubber diaphragm (one on the Jet Stream model or two on the Turbo Jet Stream model.) Air is drawn in on the down stroke via three intake valves on each diaphragm assembly. On the upstroke the compressed air is passed out the exhaust valve to the air hose via the pivot post to the 3/8" hose going to the pond.

The air is released into the pond through an optional rubber membrane diffuser that creates a fine bubbling action in the water. The diffuser is equipped with an internal check valve to eliminate water from entering the hose when the turbine is not operating in low wind conditions.

To answer some of these questions, PFRA staff in Peace River collected information that compares both different aeration devices and the differences between aerated and non-aerated dugouts. The main purpose of dugout aeration is to prevent the problem of black, smelly dugout water caused by decaying plant matter resulting from a lack of dissolved oxygen in the dugout water.

When ice deposits in the line cause an increases in back pressure, the spring loaded valve at the bottom of the freeze control tank opens releasing a small amount of isopropyl alcohol into the line, as needed allowing the line to clear. Superior freeze control is a self-regulating system that protects against line freeze and blockage by monitoring line pressure at all times.

Fish Hatcheries need extra oxygen in their water to burn up additional amounts of pollution created by the large amounts of fish waste and to lower the amount of fish kill caused by the lack of oxygen. Farmers have water dugouts and ponds in selected areas of their fields to provide cost effective irrigation for their crops and ensuring that poisonous bacteria is not transmitted into their harvests.
