XF96 Extracellular Flux Analyzer for 96-well microplate assays.

The XF Extracellular Flux Analyzers are fully-integrated instruments that simultaneously measure the two major energy yielding pathways - aerobic respiration and glycolysis - in a convenient, microplate format.

This fast and sensitive measurement of cellular bioenergetics is label free, enabling time-resolved analysis and the reuse of the cells. XF assays provide increased throughput in a drug discovery format that is superior to its single parameter predecessors.

By incorporating low cost, disposable fluorescent optical sensors, multiplexed fiber optics and highly integrated electronic components, XF instruments offer scientists the ability to:

  • Simultaneously measure oxygen consumption rate (OCR) and extracellular acidification rate (ECAR) in as little as five minutes
  • Perform time-resolved measurements of a single population of cells over a period of minutes, hours or even days
  • Re-use cell samples after completing an XF measurement

Bench-top Analyzer

The XF Analyzer fits easily on a bench top and requires only a standard lab power connection. An internal measuring chamber is maintained at 37°C at all times, and plates can be loaded manually, or a robotic plate handler and fluidics system can be used to develop automated assay protocols.

User-friendly Controller Interface

A high-resolution, color LCD touch screen provides a rich user interface for increased productivity and shorter assay running times. Integrated with the XF Analyzer, the networkable controller comes loaded with a Microsoft Windows® operating system for easy use.

XF Acquisition & Analysis Software

XF software supports the way that you work. Experiments can be designed on any desktop computer in a spreadsheet format within Microsoft Excel®. In the lab, the XF Analyzer populates assay results into this spreadsheet. The user can then analyze data either on the XF instrument touch screen, or on a desktop computer.

XF data can be viewed in raw form, analyzed using Excel, or analyzed using supplied Seahorse data review and charting tools. The standard XF software tools are provided with an unlimited-use license for your organization.

Cellular oxygen consumption and proton excretion causes rapid, easily measurable changes to the concentrations of dissolved oxygen and free protons in this "transient microchamber" which are measured every few seconds by solid state sensor probes residing 200 microns above the cell monolayer.
