Salt Spring Hospice is a non-denominational organization of volunteers. We are trained in accordance with the standards of the provincial parent organization, the
BC Hospice and Palliative Care Association (hypertext for bchpca link). Our services are provided without charge. We visit in the hospital, home and care facilities. We companion the dying and provide support for those who care for and grieve for those in the last stages of life. We listen without judgment. We will simply be present in your time of need.

The support needs of individuals who are ill and their families vary and change as situations change. Hospice offers information and support through the various services highlighted here, which can be explained in greater detail through contact with the Hospice office at 250-537-2770.

Volunteer Visiting

Volunteer VisitingOur specially trained volunteers provide emotional and practical support to individuals living with a life threatening illness and their families. Volunteers offer their time to visit with individuals in need of someone to talk to about their experiences, share memories, read, and provide a kind presence.

Grief Recovery Program

GRIEF RECOVERY PROGRAM BACKGROUND: The Grief Recovery Program was started when United Church and Anglican Church members became aware of a growing need for help and counselling for people in the community suffering grieving losses. Following this meeting, a joint venture was launched, with the idea that the Grief Recovery Program would be offered 6 week sessions from time to time for those undergoing severe losses.
