Industry-specific services

Aeronautics

  • Address the technological capabilities required for enabling the next generation of civilian and military aircraft. CANEUS will provide the link between the challenges faced by future aircraft development and how MNT-based materials and devices can meet them.
  • Identify the "lessons learned" during the infusion of new technologies into civilian and military aircraft applications. Of particular interest are potential pitfalls to be avoided by the up and coming MNT-based materials and device developments.

Space

  • Manned Space Needs: Address technological capabilities with the potential to bridge the gap between the challenges faced by future manned missions, both earth orbiting and planetary, and recent developments in MNT-based materials and devices.
  • Unmanned Space Needs: Address the technological capabilities required for enabling the next generation of unmanned spacecraft for earth orbiting and planetary missions. CANEUS will provide the link between the challenges faced by future unmanned missions and how the recent developments in MNT-based materials and devices can meet them.
  • Lessons Learned: Identify the "lessons learned" during the infusion of new technologies into space missions. Of particular interest are potential pitfalls to be avoided by the up and coming MNT-based materials and device developments.

Defence

  • Address the technological capabilities required for enabling the next generation of military space missions and the MNT-based materials and devices with the potential to meet the needs associated with these missions.
  • Identify the "lessons learned" during the infusion of new technologies into defense missions. Of particular interest are potential pitfalls to be avoided by the up and coming MNT-based materials and device developments.

Maritime

  • Address the technological capabilities required for space based persistent AIS access for ships including currently unmonitored open sea areas

Environment

  • A Shared Small Satellite network for monitoring the environment and pollution in “unwired” places including open oceans monitoring fishing activities and violations

Micro Technology

  • Address the exciting developments in new MEMS-Microsystems based devices (sensors and actuators) being developed to a proof-of-principle level of maturity in order to meet the challenging requirements of next generation aircraft and spacecraft.
  • MEMS based sub-system development, particularly related to validation of subsystems based on new technologies

Nano Technology

  • Nano-Materials that have been engineered from the "bottom up" as well "mid-maturity" and "high-maturity" issues facing materials development for aerospace applications, particularly related to validation of new materials technology initially within the laboratory and ultimately within the relevant aerospace environment, followed by "flight qualification" through test and demonstration in a relevant ground or space environment.
  • Nano-devices: Address exciting developments in new Nanosensors and Devices for aerospace applications. These include: Nano-Optoelectronic Detectors and Lasers, nano-electronics and control systems, computing and communication devices, nanofluidic devices and biomolecular machines
