The Quench Tank is of the "Flood Weir" type to ensure the wire maintains a straight line (no dipper roll). The tank is constructed in two pieces, the treatment section where the wires pass through and the reservoir tank below to catch the over flow from the treatment section. The cooling water is pumped from the reservoir to the treatment tank by means of a suitably sized centrifugal pump. The water then overflows both ends of the treatment tank. The tank is fabricated from reinforced stainless steel. A float valve is provided to maintain the water level in the lower tank.
