Description of position

Canadian Helicopters has openings for Rotary Wing Academic, FTD & Flight Instructors in Southport Manitoba in support of the Contracted Flying Training and Support (CFTS) program. Instructors report to the Chief Rotary Wing Instructor (Southport) and will be assigned duties commensurate with their qualifications and on site requirements. We are also accepting expressions of interest from candidates in anticipation of expanding the Southport instructor cadre. Responsibilities 1. Delivery of ground school lectures; 2. Delivery of flight training devices (FTD) lessons, and 3. Aircraft flight training (as assigned), by satisfactorily completing an evaluation by the CFTS Chief Rotary Wing Instructor, or designate; 4. Carry out maintenance test flights as required.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications: • TC Commercial Pilots License, endorsed on B206 (B412 an asset); • TC medical; • TC Instructor Rating and/or DND QFI Category Rating; • TC Class IV Instrument Rating; • DND Flight Instructor Course (FIC), Qualification Code AIMB; • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel); • Good organizational skills required; • Excellent oral and written communication skills; • Positive attitude; • Ability to work within a group environment; • Must be available to work overtime hours from time to time.

Wood Buffalo Helicopters, based in Fort McMurray, Alberta, operates a fleet of 9 helicopters including As350-B2/SD2, EC-120 and BH06 models.

-      ensuring all flight crew members are instructed and examined in the use of all required emergency and life saving equipment

-      performing drills in emergency evacuation of the aircraft used

-      developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) if applicable

-      ensuring all directives and notices are issued to flight crews

-      maintaining a current information library and ensuring all publications are readily available to each flight crew member

-      acting on various directives from the Operations Manager

Responsibilities

1. Responsible to the Chief Pilot for the performance of his/her duties as pilot;
2. Responsible for the operation and safety of the aircraft he/she commands and for the safety of all persons on board during flight time. For this purpose he/she will have final authority for the disposition of the aircraft during the time in which he/she is in command;
3. Responsible for the completion a Flight Plan or Flight Itinerary. He/she shall establish and maintain communications with the responsible authority whenever opportunities arise;
4. Delegation of duties to other crew members, shall in no way effect his/her ultimate responsibility for the safe conduct of the flight;
5. When applicable and subject to (4), he/she shall provide opportunities for the Second in Command to increase his/her skill and knowledge in standard operating procedures; and

Qualifications

• Current Commercial or Airline Transport Pilot License as required;
• Minimum 1000 hours rotary-wing;
• Bell 212, Bell 206 and/or AS350 endorsements;
• Mountain, night, longline & seismic experience considered assets;
• Good communication skills and positive attitude required;
• Ability to work within a group environment.

Salary Range: $60,000 to $70,000, dependent upon experience
