The Harmony test is procured through a venous blood sample (drawn in the arm) and is performed after 10 weeks gestation. The Harmony tests for Trisomy 21, 18, and 13 (the Prenatest only detects Trisomy 21 and 18) but does not rule out all fetal abnormalities. The Harmony test is 99% accurate with a false-positive rate of less than 0.1%. With the Harmony test, patients also have the option to test for conditions caused by having an extra or missing copy of the X or Y chromosomes, including Turner and Klinefelter syndromes.
