The Phoenix Firelog is a 5 lb cylinder made entirely of compressed sawdust; there are no waxes or chemical binders in the product. The use of high heat, combined with high pressure causes the lignin (a natural component of wood) in the sawdust to bind and form a solid log.
The Phoenix Firelog measures 3 3/4 inches in diameter and 11 inches in length, making it one of the larger densified logs on the market. This creates a larger, longer burning fire that will produce over 38 000 BTU’s per log. We control the entire process: from harvest to densification, hence we are able to ensure that there are only high quality wood fibres in the supply chain. We do not use third party fibres which could contain contaminants such as formaldehyde, varnish or treated woods.
None of the raw material contains any bark, which means that the Phoenix Firelog emits little creosote as compared to burning conventional wood. As well, it emits significantly less particles and ash. The Phoenix Firelog can be used in any wood burning system; it is safe for use in wood stoves, combustion stoves as well as traditional fireplaces, wood boilers and barbeques.
Due to our unique production process, we are able to offer a product that is easy to handle, easy to store, and does not harbour insects and other pests. Furthermore given that the product is dried to 10% moisture content, it will not promote mildew development during storage.
