Hearing Instrument Fittings, Care and Maintenance

Winnipeg Hearing Centres works with all major manufacturers in order to offer the best technology suited to the individual needs of our patients. We offer fittings of new digital hearing instruments, hearing instrument reprogramming, aural rehabilitation, and general product care and preventative maintenance. This includes cleanings, as well as minor and major repairs.

Cerumen Management

Too much wax in the ear canals can cause the hearing aids to generate acoustic feedback (that annoying "squealing" sound) or break down. It is important that you get your ear canals checked and cleaned on a regular basis in order to avoid future problems. We may be able to remove wax ourselves. However, if we are unable to do so, we will be happy to inform your Physician of the problem and suggest a probable solution.

Third Party Agencies

Winnipeg Hearing Centres works directly with Government Agencies such as the Worker's Compensation Board, Veteran's Affairs Canada, and the FNIHB. We also work with local organizations that may provide funding for hearing instruments and assistive listening devices. We would be happy to assist you with establishing a claim and obtaining funding for hearing instruments or other assistive listening devices through any third party agency.

Over-The-Ear instruments, also called "open fit" instruments, consist of a small instrument that fits behind the ear with a very fine clear tube that runs down and into the ear canal. In-the-canal instruments are designed so that the majority of the instrument fits down into the ear canal, with only a small portion facing out towards the outer ear.
