A dental implant is used to replace the root of a missing tooth and will hold a replacement tooth or a bridge in place.
Your dentist may suggest a dental implant when you're in overall good general health and have recently lost a tooth to periodontal disease or an injury. Dental implants are inserted into the patient's jawbone and therefore, feel and look and act as natural teeth. Our doctors will work to ensure your dental implant is comfortable and securely in place so your confidence and smile are restored. There are two main types of implants used today, Endosteal and Subperiosteal. Endosteal implants are inserted in the bone and most commonly used. Subperiosteal is implanted on top of the jawbone, usually used on patients with minimal bone to hold an Endosteal in place. Your dentist will assess each patient individually and suggest the best choice for you.
