A radiological exam is designed to image--or see inside--a specific area of your body for the purpose of diagnosis. MEDICAL IMAGING CENTRE offers several different types of imaging exams, including Ultrasound, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Conventional Radiography (x-ray), Echocardiography, and more.
Special instructions for your exam will be given at the time of scheduling. For certain procedures, a MEDICAL IMAGING CENTRE representative will contact you 24-48 hours prior to your exam with preparation instructions. In addition, a MEDICAL IMAGING CENTRE representative may call you with instructions on diet, medication use, and other self-care needs associated with your exam.
Ultrasound imaging, also called ultrasound scanning or sonography, involves exposing part of the body to high-frequency sound waves to produce pictures of the inside of the body. Ultrasound exams do not use ionizing radiation (x-ray). Because ultrasound images are captured in real-time, they can show the structure and movement of the body's internal organs, as well as blood flowing through blood vessels.
