Key Benefits At A Glance:
A pure source of long chain polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acids, EPA and DHA, which is essential for human health and cannot be produced by the body, so must be obtained through food and supplements.
Naturally high in astaxanthin, Zwell's Krill Oil is made with a proprietary composition that has 48 times more antioxidant power than regular fish oil.
Zwell’s Krill oil has unique properties for better bio-availability (use by bodily cells) than other fish oil products and is clinically proven in double-blind trials to benefit good health.
In clinical trials, Zwell Krill Oil reduced arthritis pain by 29% and stiffness by 20% in just 4 weeks.
The results of a double-blind clinical trial on hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol and/or triglycerides) show that Zwell Krill Oil was able to reduce total cholesterol and triglycerides, while improving "good" cholesterol to "bad" cholesterol ratios.
Zwell Krill Oil was shown to be more effective than regular fish oil, by providing better cholesterol-lowering results at half the daily dosage.
No “fishy burps” typical of other fish oil supplements
Pharmaceutical grade purity, made without artificial flavours or synthetic preservatives.
Long chain polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acids are essential for optimal nutrition and overall wellness. They reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke and are an important factor in cognitive health and brain function. Since our body is unable to produce omega-3 fats on its own, they must be obtained through our diet. Krill Oil is a rich source of omega-3, as well as a naturally occurring antioxidant, astaxanthin. Similar to fish oil, Krill Oil contains a high amount of Omega-3 long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids, EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid) and DHA (Docosahexanoic Acid). EPA and DHA have been found to also improve cognitive performance in healthy subjects and to lower the risk of dementia.
Krill Oil is a unique Omega-3 fatty acid source, compared to fish oils or flaxseed. Most of the EPA and DHA in Krill Oil exist in the phospholipid form instead of the triglyceride form as those in fish oil. This unique physical characteristic makes krill oil more readily absorbed and therefore more available to your body. Though linolenic acid from flaxseed oil belongs to the omega-3 family, only a very limited portion (less than 5%) can be converted into EPA/ DHA in humans. Therefore, the Omega-3 in krill oil is more efficiently utilized by the human body.Importantly, Krill Oil is a sustainable source of Omega-3. Krill is a highly renewable resource, with the annual catch being restrictively controlled by international treaty. Zwell’s Krill Oil is harvested from the pure and unpolluted Antarctic Ocean and is therefore free of the contamination that comes with most other sources of Omega-3.Zwell’s Krill Oil provides 230 mg of potent Omega-3 fatty acids in a safe and effective form. Also, due to fast absorption, the EPA/DHA contained as phospholipids eliminates the “fishy burps” associated with regular fish oils. Krill Oil is also very useful in blood lipid management. In a clinical study, human subjects were given 1 gram krill oil/day (1.5 gram krill oil/day for obese individuals). After 12 weeks, total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein (LDL, or “bad cholesterol”) and triglyceride (TG) were significantly lower than those at the beginning of the clinical study, whereas high density lipoprotein (HDL, or “good cholesterol”) was significantly higher. Another three months of 0.5 gram of ingesting krill oil daily successfully maintained the blood lipid profile. On the other hand, up to 3 grams of fish oil per day only led to a slight change in the blood lipid profile, suggesting the krill oil is more efficient than fish oil in blood lipid management. As a source of protection against osteoarthritis pain, Krill has also been found quite effective. Just 300 mg Krill oil per day for seven days reduced C-reactive protein (CRP, an indicator of inflammation in arthritis) by 19.3% compared to a 15.7% increase with a placebo. CRP was further dropped about 30% after 14 and 30 days in the group being given krill oil; arthritis pain was reduced by 28.9% and stiffness was reduced by 20.3%. These findings demonstrate the benefits of krill oil for alleviating chronic inflammatory arthritic symptoms. In addition, Krill oil contains astaxanthin, a natural antioxidant. Astaxanthin helps prevent the retina from oxidative damage and could potentially be beneficial in the treatment of age-related macular degeneration (ARMD).
