One Time Visit

If you want general guidance and feedback on your current diet & supplement use as it relates to general healthy eating, managing specific health-related issues such as blood lipids (LDL, HDL, triglycerides), blood sugar management, how to read food labels, cleaning up your diet and more, then one-time visit may work for you. Regardless of the reason for the visit, I will review where you currently are on your health journey. You’ll benefit by having a conversation rich in content on the nutrition-related issues that affect you. You’ll leave actually understanding the ‘why’ behind my advice. You’ll get actionable tips, handouts and guidance to get you on the path to better health.

  Your Investment: $150 for a 60-75 minute visit

Follow-up Visit

If desired, a follow-up visit can be booked after an initial consultation to ensure you are still on track with the tips and suggestions provided during your first visit. These follow-up sessions can be booked as often as needed but the first one, typically is no sooner, than one to two weeks after the first visit.

Diet & Supplement Tune-Up

This package is ideal for the person who wants to have his or her current diet, food choices, and supplement use assessed. This package benefits anyone who wants to maintain optimized health (if already there), move you towards better health & vitality, or to improve any health-related issue that can be improved upon: blood sugar management, cholesterol/triglycerides, bone health, active living, ‘anti-aging’ for baby boomers/zoomers and more. I will help you to fine tune your choices in order to maximize your efforts; reduce the number of supplements where necessary, recommend better brands with superior formulations if needed and provide guidance on the best, nutrient-dense whole-foods to optimize health & wellness; ensuring you’ll make every bite count. You’ll benefit by having a conversation rich in content on the nutrition-related issues that affect you, you’ll leave feeling empowered to make informed choices and have the tips & tools to put health more in your control.

This package includes 4 visits over 2 to 3 months

  • An initial 45-minute visit to discuss my assessment of your Food Record and Lifestyle & Wellness Questionnaire, supplement use, dietary habits and goals
    • You’ll receive recommendations on diet & supplement use,  and tips to help you get the most out of your efforts.
    • You’ll also receive a copy of Nutrition for Canadians for Dummies , a book that I co-authored.
  • A second 30-minute follow-up appointment to review what’s working and what’s not and to find strategies to overcome any identified barriers to your success. This second visit would typically be scheduled two weeks to one month after your initial appointment.
  • Two 15-minute follow-up visits [in person or by phone] for continued monitoring of your progress and to make any minor tweaks as needed; typically scheduled at weeks 8 and 12.

Healthy Eating & Therapeutic Nutrition Package

This package is ideal for the person who wants to have his or her current diet and supplement choices assessed for the purpose of improving their long-term health and/or to help manage any lifestyle and diet-related health issue like diabetes, heart health, blood pressure, reducing cancer risk, and osteoporosis and bone health. Close and ongoing monitoring will help you to reach your stated/identified goals.

I will help you to fine tune your choices in order to maximize your efforts; reduce the number of supplements where necessary, recommend better brands with superior formulations if needed and provide guidance on the best, nutrient-dense whole-foods to optimize health & wellness; ensuring you’ll make every bite count. You’ll benefit by having a conversation rich in content on the nutrition-related issues that affect you, you’ll leave feeling empowered to make informed choices and have the tips & tools to put health more in your control.

This package includes 7 visits over 6 months

The visits are as follows:

  • An initial 1-hour visit to discuss my assessment of your Food Record and Lifestyle & Wellness Questionnaire, dietary habits and goals. I will provide dietary advice on how to optimize your current and long-term health, manage any diet and health-related issues (diabetes, cholesterol/triglycerides, IBD etc.), guidance on supplement use, portion sizes, dealing with cravings, navigating the food court and more.
    • You’ll receive a 5-day meal plan tailored to your individual needs. This will help you with your own menu planning by illustrating the best food choices and portion sizes for your goals.
    • You’ll receive recommendations on diet & supplement use and tips to help you get the most out of your efforts.
    • You’ll also receive a copy of Nutrition for Canadians for Dummies , a book that I co-authored.
  • A second 30-minute follow-up appointment to review what’s working and what’s not and to find strategies to overcome any identified barriers to your success. This second visit is typically scheduled one week after your initial appointment.
  • Five 15-minute follow-up visits [in person or by phone] for continued monitoring of your progress and to make any minor tweaks as needed; typically scheduled at weeks 5, 9, 13, 18 and 24.

Weight Loss & Weight Management Program

, a tried and proven program developed in partnership with a Clinical Psychologist and Registered Dietitian, this program offers a cognitive-behavioural approach to help you better understand and change problematic eating and self-limiting/sabotaging behaviours. Years of research have shown that cognitive-behavioural counselling is an appropriate and successful model for people who struggle with their eating. This program will provide you with a customized meal plan for the purpose of modelling portion sizes (an integral part of healthy eating especially in today’s world where a lack of portion control is rampant).  You’ll benefit from the strong accountability that s built in with frequent follow-up visits with me.

Some highlights of this program include:

  • Understand the psychological aspects of eating
  • Find out what your internal & external triggers for eating are
  • Learn strategies to change problematic eating
  • How to succeed in group settings
  • Provides the benefits of one-on-one interaction with Doug; forgoing group sessions while receiving the full attention you deserve

This package includes either 14 visits over 6 months OR 26 visits over 12 months

ä model. This package allows for changes to be tracked in tandem with other diagnostic tests (if needed/desired) such as blood work, bone mineral density scans etc. as weight loss and management and these other health issues often occur together (but not always).

For the first month, visits are weekly (1-hour initial, 30-minute follow-up, 2 x 15 minute follow-up), and then the 15-minute follow-up visits are bi-weekly:

  • 12-month package: Twenty-four 15-minute follow-up visits [or by phone] for continued monitoring of your progress. The first two visits occur in week 3 and 4, then every other week there after. This package also includes up to 15 emails (for 1 to 2 brief questions per email) over the duration of the package. I will respond to emails within 48 hours.
