This is a service that the Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association of Ontario provides in order to promote career development opportunities for individuals working in the thoroughbred horse racing industry.
A backstretch worker may register for their Assistant Trainer or Trainer test once they have at least five years experience working on the backstretch. Once a candidate has submitted the application, the application goes to the Trainer’s Testing Committee for review. Please note that the application form must be submitted three weeks prior to the test date.
The candidate’s application is reviewed by the Committee and is assessed on the merits of the candidate’s history and experience. Approved candidates are then informed that they are eligible for testing.
