We have 4 wonderful partners for the essential services of gown cleaning and alterations. All these women offer spectacular quality, are fabulous to work with, and offer special deals for Brides’ Project customers.

NEW!! Grace Wedding Gown Specialists

Grace and her team in Scarborough are absolutely phenomenal.  Grace is extremely knowledgeable about the cleaning needs of wedding gowns, and recently came to TBP to take a look at what we have on the rack.  She assured me that there is NOTHING on the rack that won’t come perfectly clean using the techniques available.  She will also tackle silk, and took a gown we had with candle wax dripped on the skirt, and rendered it perfectly SPOTLESS!  Cleaning prices vary from about $70-$120 depending on the complexity of the gown, and as I’m sure you all know, that is EXTREMELY reasonable.  TBP clients are also offered a further $10 discount from these amazing prices!!!  WOOT!

I’m just delighted to welcome such a lovely person, and such an incredible service to what we offer here at The Brides’ Project!  Welcome on board Grace!!!

Val’s Bridal Cleaning Service

Val has been cleaning bridal gowns by hand for the last 10 years, and is the infamous founder of “Play it Again Val’s” in Ajax. She has extensive experience given her own previous gown resale business. She charges an extremely reasonable $85.00 to clean gowns, and offers a $10 coupon to our clients. Val charges $50 for boxing, and $34 for a cotton gown bag. You can discuss wiser alternatives with Val should you choose to keep your dress… she can tell you how to keep it beautiful.

Finally, after meeting Val and discussing gown cleaning… she amazed me with one account of her experiences. She acquired gowns with black spray paint on them… and GOT IT ALL OUT! So, if you have any fears about her ability, that is one accomplishment that no dry cleaner can offer to the best of my knowledge!!!! We both agreed that there is really very little that can’t be removed, so your gown will be in expert hands.

Pom Penner is one fantastic lady who is extremely multi-talented! She is the dressmaker for Olwyn Fleury Haute Couture, a pattern-maker, and seamstress extraordinaire. You can trust Pom without a doubt with your wedding dress, and she will make it fit like a glove! You can reach Pom at 905-479-4566 and make sure to tell her I said ‘hi’!!!!

Pom (and her assistant, Betty) will also be sure to keep you entertained as you visit for your fittings… all our clients will agree that they never forget meeting our dear Pom and always enjoy her company!

Pearl is a total gem (pardon the pun).  Pearl is personable, knowledgeable, and professional. Pearl Seto has been doing alterations for 25 years for the salons and has also spent many years working for Alfred Sung. By doing private work for TBP, Pearl is embracing our commitment to quality and service and contributing to our brides and the community.

Pearl and I discussed various standard alterations, costs, etc., and in most cases, rather than paying $300 and up in the salons, her charges average about $80-$120. Keep in mind, if you’re asking for something drastic, it will cost you more. I’ve had nothing but rave reviews of her work and pricing.

She is located at 63 Duxbury Drive in Scarborough, and can be reached at 416-298-7899. Please help support such a wonderful, generous and hard-working woman. Thank you Pearl… for finding us at The Brides’ Project.

Other products and services from The Brides' Project

The Brides' Project: Music/DJs

For those of you who have attended any of my events, you’ll be familiar with their fabulous interactive style… one that is sure to please any bride and groom, and keep your dancefloor packed until the wee hours. I met the lovely Jennifer Moersch at a wedding in January, and I was sure I’d conducted a wedding where she was providing the music before.

The Brides' Project: Bonbonnieres

One GREAT option is to offer a donation in lieu of a small gift that is often eaten, thrown away or forgotten (no offense meant, but that’s what happens with most bonbonierres!). You will receive 7.5% off of your order, and we will match your discount in a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society. Monogrammatiks playing card company is currently offering a 15% deal on any order of customized playing cards.

The Brides' Project: Floral & Decorations

Bernard donates a portion of all funds that are derived through referrals from The Brides’ Project in keeping with our socially-conscious mission and to help brides achieve that wedding that really DOES last a lifetime. We are offering free wedding consultation, a free throw bouquet for the bride and a free, day and night, boutonnieres for the groom for all wedding booked with us.

The Brides' Project: Hair & Makeup

Throughout her years of experience, Julia has had the pleasure of working with many brides, bringing out their individual beauty and making them feel confident and look radiant on their special day. It is also a very good idea to have a consultation with your artist at least a month prior to your wedding so that you are both on the same page when it gets to the big day.

The Brides' Project: REFERRALS

These are people who we’ve worked with and share in our mission of social enterprise and supporting agencies who help children and adults with cancer. If you decide to use any of these services, let them know that The Brides’ Project sent you. We’re compiling a list of resources; the pages will be updated from the archived site.
