Tacet has been actively involved in gas turbine silencing projects since 1978.  As a result of its association with Higgott-Kane (A Division of ATCO Noise Management) as well as the research faculty in various Ontario universities, Tacet has combined extensive research with innovative testing techniques to develop many successful silencer and enclosure designs as well as proprietary algorithms to accurately predict the performance of silencing equipment.  Tacet has successfully designed a silencer and a wall transmission loss testing facility for Higgott-Kane which has proved invaluable in improving their designs and marketing their products. 

Some of our past and present clients include: Transcanada Pipelines, Solar Energy, Florida Power & Light, Ontario Power Generation, General Electric and many more.

Tacet services in this area range from design of acoustic walls, barriers, ducts and silencers for industrial applications to verifying the performance of these equipment using sophisticated measurement techniques such as high-temperature induct exhaust sound measurement, cross-spectrum and the synchronous averaging techniques.

Tacet's involvement in structural vibrations dates back to the successful design of the CN Tower Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) by an engineering team headed by Dr Sacks.  Ever since, Tacet has been involved in many successful TMD projects.  The Chifely Tower in Sydney, Quebec Metro Convention Centre, La Guardia high school in New York City, the newly renovated Soldier Field stadium in Chicago, and some pedestrian bridges in Las Vegas are examples of such projects.

Our services in this area include diagnosis testing of structures to find resonant frequencies of interest, relevant damping ratios and modal masses (using our proprietary in-house developed techniques) as well as complete design of TMD's required to mitigate the problem.
