Well, it’s finally here! Welcome To The Boogaloo Lounge is out. It’ll be available on iTunes by next week, probably byJuly 27th. You’ll be able to order a CD here on my website…or get it at any of the digital download stores….or at The Orbit Room when i play there. It’s a tribute to the 60s and 70s music that i love. I wrote all the tunes last summer while at the height of my midlife crisis….thank god it was good for something.  There’s a ballad that i wrote for Dione Taylor and Duane Blackburn..

Well, 2011 got off to a busier start than usual. I just finished the 2011 Genie Awards for CBC…highest ratings ever.  And The Ron James Show has been renewed for Season 3. We’ll be working on that in late spring and it debuts in September. Did a couple of records for my buddy Stevie Salas, which is always fun. Also, IIFA, also known as the “Bollywood Oscars” is in Toronto on June 25th at Skydome. I”ll be working with Enter The Picture Ent. on the opening number for that 6 hour extravaganza. There’s a list..

Well here we are at the end of another year busy year. Time to reflect. I started the year off MDing the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame Gala. This year we inducted Rush. Alex Lifeson is a good friend of mine, and it was great to see them recognized as songwriters. People don’t realize that songwriting is the hard part, and it’s very gratifying to see your songs, your babies, celebrated. Then the guys asked me to arrange the music for the opening short film for their Time Machine Tour 2010.  That was a blast….polka and..

Sorry about the time since the last post. It’s a really busy and hot summer here in Toronto. Michael Buble’s Crazy Love is still hot on the charts, and i’m told has broken the 5 million mark in sales! This in an era when people aren’t selling CDs anymore…i still get a rush everytime i hear “Haven’t Met You Yet” on the radio. Speaking of rushes, power trio Rush has just gone out on tour again and Alex Lifeson asked me to produce the music for the 5 minute film that opens each concert. It was great..

I was asked to be a speaker this year at CMW. I had never been to CMW, and didn’t know what to expect, but i was blown away. Huge turnout, and i got to connect with some new people, as well as a bunch of old friends i haven’t seen in a while.  I was on a panel with Mike Fraser (famed rock mixer), Bill Bell and Tommie Sunshine, and we had a blast. I also saw a songwriter’s panel with Dave Stewart (Eurythmics)  and Paul Williams. They told stories about their famous songs, then even performed a few….really great.

Well, the next few weeks is full of good stuff. This Wed Nov 18 is the taping of my own CBC Radio special, Canada Raves on Motown. I’ve got a 13-piece group playing Motown classics at the Glenn Gould Theatre in Toronto. The Santa Claus Parade is this Saturday, fun working on that. Been busy on CBC’s The Ron James Show, watch for those Lil Ronnies! I’m playing with my group The Dexters at the Orbit Room on Nov 21st for the club’s 15th anniversary…and if that weren’t enough, Michael Buble’s CD Crazy Love..

One was for my arrangement of Oscar Peterson’s “Hymn to Freedom” with Dione Taylor and the Faith Chorale, and the other was for my arrangement of “Ain’t Nobody Here But Us Chickens” for Emilie-Claire Barlow. In the next few months I’ll be scoring a 1 hour magic special for the CBC as well, featuring the amazing Greg Frewin….and will begin work on a CBC Xmas movie featuring Cynthia Dale.
