Sheila Brown, MSW, RSW, Acc.FM (OAFM) and Pam Fanjoy, MSW, RSW, are Registered Social Workers who work together to provide a broad range of services to a variety of clients. Our services include individual, family and couple counselling; specialized counselling for children and teens; play therapy; and group services for children and parents. Sheila and Pam also specialize in working with families during the transition of separation/divorce. We provide mediation services and work as members of a multidisciplinary team with families who may choose Collaborative Practice.

When working with families undergoing separation/divorce, sometimes it is important to separate out the needs of the parents from those of the children. Pam and Sheila have found that it is often better for children to be seen by a different professional than the one with whom the parents are working. In this context, Sheila will often work with parents either by assisting them to mediate a parenting plan or by supporting them in specific parenting tasks. At the same time, Pam will provide assessment or counselling to the children. By collaborating together as a team with a family, they can ensure that the goals of the work are integrated in order to best address the differing needs of family members. Families have found that this has assisted them to better consider the multiple perspectives that need to be taken into account in order for all family members to move successfully through the transition of separation/divorce.
