What is Chlamydia: Chlamydia, or chlamydial infection, is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by Chlamydia trachomatis (C. trachomatis), a bacterium that only infects humans. Although we usually think of the sexually transmitted disease (STD), chlamydial infection refers to infection caused by any species of the Chlamydiaceae bacterial family. Chlamydia is a common infectious cause of genital and eye diseases in humans. It is the leading bacterial STI worldwide. What Causes Chlamydia? The bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis causes chlamydia infections. Signs & Symptoms: A burning feeling during urination and abnormal discharge from the vagina or penis are common symptoms. Women may have lower back pain, pain during sex, nausea and fever. Men may have tender testicles. However, the majority of people with chlamydia do not have any symptoms. Is Chlamydia Contagious? Yes. Chlamydia spreads through vaginal, anal and oral sex. It can also pass from mother to newborn. One partner can reinfect the other with chlamydia if both are not treated. An ongoing chlamydia infection can result in pelvic inflammatory disease and lead to infertility in women. Treatment & Remedies: Chlamydia can be treated and cured with antibiotics. Azithromycin, doxycycline and erythromycin are all used to treat chlamydia. If antibiotics don't work, Chinese medicine is another good choice such asn Fuyan Pill and Diuretic and Anti-inflammatory Pill.
