Wisdom teeth begin to cut in anywhere from 16 years of age, and can be quite painful should there not be enough room in the mouth to accomodate them. Teeth cutting in that have no room can cause permenant misalignment of one's existing teeth. An extraction is the process of removing a tooth (either above or below the gumline) from the oral cavity. This may also be a means of treatment if the tooth's root has been damaged beyond repair.
