CanACRE provides competitive, focused and efficient land acquisition services. We develop detailed plans to identify the land required for a renewable energy project or right of way (ROW) and then we acquire the land that has been targeted. With backgrounds in renewable energy development, municipal law and GIS (mapping), our team offers proven field experience and industry knowledge pertaining to all facets of land acquisition for renewable energy development and transmission ROWs. We also understand that confidentiality is of utmost importance to our clients. Keeping this in mind, our team will find the best approach to expedite the development of any project.

Renewable Energy Projects

The CanACRE field team has extensive experience acquiring land use rights for renewable energy projects in every province of Canada. We begin by analyzing the lands within the project area.  We perform land constraints analysis on proposed project areas to determine what land can be used for the proposed project. With this information, a developer can know what land must be acquired to construct their desired project. We then propose a land acquisition strategy and go into the field to acquire the land use rights that are needed for the project.

CanACRE provides the following project land acquisition services:

  • Land feasibility studies
  • Project land identification
  • Complete land title/abstract review
  • Project maps and line list assembly
  • Option and lease reviews
  • Project land acquisition
  • Complete records of consultation
  • Option, lease, and easement registration
  • Ongoing landowner consultation

Right of Way Acquisition

CanACRE provides land acquisition services for connecting energy projects to the electrical transmission system. We assist our clients by identifying and conducting route feasibility analysis along proposed and alternative rights of way (ROWs) as a precursor to project land acquisition.

CanACRE provides the following ROW land acquisition services:

  • ROW land acquisition
  • Land title/abstract review
  • Consultation with all levels of government and interested Aboriginal groups
  • Conflicting utility easement review and negotiation
  • Complete records of consultation
  • Easement registration
  • Ongoing landowner consultation

CanACRE works to identify the interests of all project stakeholders at a very early stage of development. This vital information allows for responsible due diligence and planning to be incorporated into every ROW acquisition plan.

We also assist clients who need to expand existing project sites, or acquire additional land for their projects for any reason, such as:

  • Access roads
  • Temporary storage buildings
  • Meteorological towers
  • Collection systems
  • Substations
  • Lay down yards

  • Rights of way for electrical tap lines

We pride ourselves on our ability to develop strong relationships within every community we work in. Having strong relationships with the community is a key to the success of any project.
