I Was in an Accident Recently, Does My Previous Accident (from years ago) Hurt My Current Claim?

An interesting situation whereby a 1997 car accident went to Trial by Judge alone in late 2001, resulting in a written decision awarding damages to the Plaintiff.

One month after that Trial decision, the plaintiff is involved in another (2002) car accident.

For the 2002 car accident at Trial, how is the 1997 accident to be dealt with and does the written decision make the case too complex to be heard by a Jury?
