At Axicon, we pride ourselves on quality workmanship and elegant finished products. This is particularly apparent in our beautiful custom pergolas built in Toronto. Also known as an arbour, a pergola is a structure that provides partial shade over your deck, interlocking, or even open grass. A standard pergola is constructed with two posts supporting a beam with joists on top. These structures can include lattice or wood strips on top of the joists to shade the space further. Pergolas can be built protruding from your house or as stand alone structures with two posts on either side.
There are several material options available for your custom pergola – vinyl, fibreglass, aluminum, PVC, concrete, or brick, to name a few. However, our forte at Axicon is fine woodwork and carpentry, which has made our custom wood pergolas our best-selling option. Using either cedar or pressure treated wood, Axicon employees are able to build your pergola exactly as you want it following a variety of style profiles including traditional and contemporary, with all wood-working done in-house and on location. Another advantage of using wood is that it can be stained or painted as per your liking, and unlike other materials it can be repainted with ease should you choose to change the look of your house or property in Toronto.
Pergolas are a fantastic way to provide shade on hot summer days while still allowing you to enjoy the sunlight and open breeze. A pergola built on a raised platform is a great way to segment your deck and encourage better traffic flow and seating in designated spaces. Adding some simple drapes, curtains, furniture and outdoor lighting can transform your pergola into an oasis you and your loved ones will enjoy for many days and nights to come.
