As a member of the Canadian Freelance
Union you are
eligible to apply for an official PRESS CARD. We are able to offer two
versions to qualified members. Anyone who works in the public media as
a journalist, photographer, illustrator, magazine/newspaper/online writer,
editor, etc. is eligible to apply for our cards.
National PRESS Card. This identifies the holder as a professional
Canadian journalist. This includes any Canadian or Permanent Resident who
works in the public media: reporter/journalist, photographer, researchers,
videographers, editor, etc.
The card will be supported by the CFU for confirmation
or accreditation purposes. There is no additional fee for this card. To
be valid it must be accompanied by a current CFU Membership Card.
Press Card. Qualified
CFU members are also eligible to apply for the International Federation
of Journalists (IFJ) International
Press Card. This card is supported by the IFJ and is available to CFU members
through our connections with the Communications, Energy and
Paperworkers Union of Canada (CEP). The fee for this card is a cost-recovery
charge of $35. Each card is valid for two years. To be eligible you must
be a CFU member in good standing, and either be a Canadian Citizen or a Permanent
Resident of Canada.
