Shopping for Insurance
For most Ontarians, insurance is a chore. It’s something you need, not something you want; as a result, consumers often go with the first quote they get, possibly from a bank or other direct company.
Unfortunately, one price from one company is the worst possible way to shop for insurance. Different companies have different rating criteria, risk pools, and loss ratios, so prices can often vary by thousands of dollars for what seems to be no reason at all.
