Osteopathic Treatment

‘As a natural medicine, osteopathy applies the knowledge of the structure (anatomy) and function (physiology) of the body, to all diseases, disorders and dysfunctions. The tools osteopaths use are their hands. Osteopaths use a gentle “hands-on” or “manual” approach to identify the causative factor of the problem and restore order to all of the systems: musculoskeletal, respiratory, cardiovascular, digestive, reproductive, or nervous system’ (Ontario Association of Osteopaths).

Osteopathy looks for the causes of dysfunction, treating the body as a whole.   Osteopathy is not only a treatment, but also a philosophy.   Osteopaths use a holistic model, understanding that there is a connection between the physical, psychological and spiritual wellbeing.
