25 VS 40 Year Shingles

Are you planning on staying in your home for 10+ years? If the answer is yes then 40 year shingles are the better choice. Your cost differential is the cost of the shingles themselves and slightly higher labor costs. Your roof is then more secure as 30 or 40 year shingles are less susceptible to blow offs. If you should sell your home prospective buyers are not looking at a costly replacement.

Are you re-shingling to sell your home or rental property? If so then 25 year shingles are definitely a great solution. They also look superior on lower slope roofs. As  with any product, correct installation is the key to performance.
