So what does photo cropping mean? Cropping is the process of altering
the image to make it fit within the aspect ratio of the photo size.
Standard sizes are 4x6, 5x7 or 8x10 inches. Since the images come off the
camera in a 2:3 ratio, so most images need a little cropping to make them fit on
the photo paper. Here is an example of how it works:
As you can see, the original image has a lot of extra space around the
runner. Each crop removes the space, but keeps the proper aspect ratio to
fit the image on the correct size of photo paper.
Even photos taken by a professional photographer and using professional equipment do not always come out looking exactly as they should. For example if the white balance is a little off, the image will look too warm or too cold. If the "reds" are a little dull, or if the image just doesn't have that "pop", colour
correction (white balance and curves adjustments) can usually can fix that up without a problem!
This technique can also be used to fixed images that are too dark or too light. Here are some
The colour correction is often very hard to see, but once the image is
printed and becomes a photo, the colour corrected photo really stands out.
Just like with colours and white balance, sometimes there are things you
can't control in your image - like a busy background, other people, cars, etc. We can do many things to fine
tune a photo. Here is an example of Fine Tuning (also shows cropping and colour and white balance correction). Please note that fine tuning is only available within reason. If the time required to tune your image is great, we will request further payment for our service.
