EnviroCentre can help you decide how best to invest in improving the comfort, energy efficiency and air quality of your home, while saving money and reducing your carbon footprint for years to come.
Our Certified Energy Advisors have evaluated over 24,000 homes, more than any other organization in Eastern Ontario. Using specialized equipment and the Government of Canada’s official software, they will do a complete audit of your home and provide a customized report that will help you:
- save money by reducing your heating and cooling bills through better insulation and air sealing
- make your home more comfortable by improving ventilation and heat distribution
- increase your home’s resale value with an official EnerGuide for Houses rating showing its lower than average heating and cooling costs
You can book our Home Comfort Service by contacting our office by phone or email. The visit will take about 2 hours, depending on the size of your home and how many questions you ask. Within 10 business days you will receive a customized report with recommendations for improving your home. The total price for both a pre- and post-retrofit audit for most homes is $350 (+HST) if you include the $150 rebate that you will receive from the Province of Ontario. If you are a past participant you will only need a follow-up evaluation for which the price is $175 (+HST). Extra charges apply for larger homes, those located more than 50 km from one of our and for weekend, evening or other options.
This Canadian technology has been exported around the world because we now know that air leakage is one of the cheapest and most effective ways to reduce heat loss in the winter and heat gain in the summer. By providing a measurement of the house air changes per hour (ACH), a blower door test can tell you if your house is tight enough to warrant the installation of a Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV), if all you really need is a better bathroom fan, or if you should keep on caulking. Remember that there is no such thing as a house that is “too tight”, only one that is inadequately ventilated.
If you would like a more visual picture of how you are losing heat, infrared cameras are a great way to show exactly where the problems are. If you’re interested in upgrading to this level for $175 extra, you will be booked with a trained advisor who will spend up to 30 minutes showing you revealing pictures of your house.
