Dental Anaesthesia Group
Do you have mild, moderate, or severe dental anxiety?
Would you like to have advanced reconstruction completed in as few visits as possible?
Do you find it difficult to hold your mouth open for long periods, or suffer from a sensitive gag reflex?
We know many people find going to the dentist a very stressful experience. Studies show that 20% of the population is nervous or terrified of going to the dentist. If you cancel dental appointments or avoid the dentist altogether, Dr. Saso can help. As the only dental anaesthesia specialist in Ottawa, Dr. Saso has helped thousands of patients overcome their fears with sedation dentistry.
Sedation dentistry deeply relaxes patients, and depending on the level of sedation you receive, you can even sleep through your dental appointments.
Four Kinds of Sedation
Several kinds of sedation exist, and Dr. Saso offers them all. The method of sedation you receive will be customized to your unique needs. From mild to advanced, sedation options include:
-Nitrous Oxide Sedation – Simply inhaling a calming gas during the procedure can greatly reduce anxiety, especially for routine dental visits.
-Oral Conscious Sedation – You can take a prescribed pill prior to your visit to encourage calm and relaxation. The oral medication will cause you to be drowsy, and you will remember little from the actual procedure.
-IV Sedation – This is the preferred method for most fearful patients. With IV sedation, Dr. Saso can control the sedative dosage throughout the procedure. With this safe, predictable method, you will enter a “twilight” stage and remember little, if any, of the actual procedure.
-General Anaesthesia – Many patients want to be completely unaware of all the details of the procedure. General anaesthesia allows them to be “under” while the dentist performs the treatment. You will not hear, smell, or see any portion of the procedure.
Dr. Saso and our team specialize in dental anaesthesia. We see fearful patients daily and are familiar with the challenges these patients face. In addition to our sedation methods, we also listen to our patients, explain treatments in full detail, and take the time to understand what makes each patient unique. Dr. Saso and our team enjoy helping fearful patients overcome their dental fears through compassionate, comfortable dentistry.
