AUTOMATIC TERMINAL INFORMATION SYSTEM (ATIS)

The ATIS System is an audio recording and reproduction system used by airport authorities to record and transmit repetitive information to arriving, departing, and en route aircrafts. The information consists primarily of wind speed, wind direction, visibility, air temperature and runway conditions. This information is frequently updated and continuously played 24 hours a day.  

The ATIS System comprises of the following subsystems:

A. (2) recorder/reproducer units (ie., main/standby configuration),
B. (2) VHF transmitters (ie., main/standby configuration),
C. (1) main/standby selector unit,
D. (1) power supply and battery back-up system,
E. (1) 19" equipment cabinet,
F. (2) VHF antennae and corresponding coax feeder cables (ie., main/standby configuration)
