In prep for a social gathering tomorrow, I’ve made some of my Halyma’s Cheesecakelets, and then I had a pile of leftover wonton wrappers and decided to get simply creative again. Halyma’s Applewraps are simple wedges of Macintosh apples, a sprinkle of cinnamon/sugar, wrapped individually in wontons.

Over the years that I have been teaching belly dance, there have been so many variations on the idea of how to present belly dance to the community in fun and interesting ways. I first saw it when my first teacher held a party at a then locally renowned shawarma restaurant and and had a few other teachers come out and show us newbies how it was done.

Just before serving, assemble the cake:Start with a layer of cake/cookies on the bottom of the platter.Scoop out some berry pie filling/jam/jelly and loosely spread around.Sprinkle white chocolate shavings/chips and a few dollops of whipping cream.Layer until you’ve used all of the cookies, and top with big blobs of whipped cream.

I just took some time to check in on registration for my Byward Market location classes and hey – there’s still room for some new dancers to come on out and start learning this fun dance form. Over the 12 weeks, i teach techniques first, and choreography only towards the end of the session so that you feel comfortable with the moves. NO. Wear comfy clothes that you can move in, sweat in, stretch in and feel good in.
