Root canals are a necessary treatment when the internal nerve of the tooth has been affected by either a deep filling or deep cavity and the tooth is unable to fight back to a healthy state. The actual process involves removing the infected nerve within the tooth, disinfecting and filling it with an dental substance so that the tooth can continue to function. Often the tooth is weakened and requires a crown for strength to function once the tooth is back to a calm healthy state.

During and after the procedure we do all we can to keep you comfortable and pain free. This may include the addition of antibiotics and/ or pain killers and with the aid of digital x-rays, new techniques and state of the art equipment we are able to restore teeth back to a healthy state.

It is always ideal to try and keep your own teeth rather than extract the tooth. Our own natural healthy teeth always function best.

Symptoms you may have:

  • Throbbing and sensitive tooth to hot and cold
  • Unable to chew
  • Unable to touch the tooth
  • Funny taste or smell because of an infection
  • No symptoms at all

Titanium screws are placed into the bone and allowed to heal over several weeks and eventually a crown or bridge or even a denture can be secured onto these screws to give you a very natural feeling of your teeth back. Crowns completely cover teeth and provide strength and function to teeth that are compromised due to weaknesses such as fractures, large fillings and cavities or have been treated with a root canal.

We have equipped our operatories with intra-oral cameras and computers to explain treatment and proper dental health care maintenance at home. On a first visit to our office the initial appointment would involve a complete oral examination. The office provides a childrens play area for them to enjoy prior to their appointment. Regular check-ups are always a key part to long term dental health.
