Root canals are a necessary treatment when the internal nerve of the tooth has been affected by either a deep filling or deep cavity and the tooth is unable to fight back to a healthy state. The actual process involves removing the infected nerve within the tooth, disinfecting and filling it with an dental substance so that the tooth can continue to function. Often the tooth is weakened and requires a crown for strength to function once the tooth is back to a calm healthy state.
During and after the procedure we do all we can to keep you comfortable and pain free. This may include the addition of antibiotics and/ or pain killers and with the aid of digital x-rays, new techniques and state of the art equipment we are able to restore teeth back to a healthy state.
It is always ideal to try and keep your own teeth rather than extract the tooth. Our own natural healthy teeth always function best.
