Our successful track record in recovering substantial savings for our clients begins with our rigorous approach to applying proprietary tax rulings to a number of strategic areas including Information Technology (e.g., software, hardware and services), Marketing, Manufacturing and Human Resources. By combining our rigorous methodology with our expertise in commodity taxes (GST, HST, QST and Provincial Sales Tax), customs duties and taxes, employee health taxes, workplace safety and insurance board (WSIB) costs as well as scientific research and experimental tax credits, we are able to provide a comprehensive analysis of an organization's indirect cost profile against proprietary benchmarks and tax rulings. In addition, our experience with vendor overpayments enables us to carefully analyze and identify them as well as highlight the possible underlying contributing processes. If overpayments are discovered, we share our findings with our clients, and upon approval we initiate, document and coordinate the recoveries.
Our work does not just stop at identifying and filing tax savings opportunities, but also continues post filing. One of our greatest advantages is having in-house staff that have previously worked with various tax authorities as well as the leading tax lawyers in the country. This allows us to have an in-depth understanding of how to effectively work with the various tax authorities in preparing files and supporting documents to justify our claims. Both the Project Lead and Technical Partner will review all issues and ensure that all internal quality control processes are followed including ensuring issues are correctly classified within the legislative provisions and that all supporting documentation is sufficient to satisfy the respective tax authority requirements. In the rare instance that litigation is required, we work closely with a legal services firm whose practice specializes in commodity taxes and they will assist in filing any necessary notices of objections or appeals for unresolved tax issues from our claim.
