A lot of companies feel the way to have an affect on an employee is to have them attend seminars. A seminar might provide certain tools to help an employee, but they are short term only. With a “difficult person”, they usually struggle to trust the information they are being given. This is because a seminar tells the person what they should be doing. With personal coaching, the focus is on the person learning to take responsibility to figure out what works best for them. You can’t change people unless they want to change. Who better to figure that out than the employee themselves? Also the one-on-one process is streamlined to deal specifically with their issues and not a mass generated package. This isn’t about motivation or goal setting. This is more about being “conscious” of the decisions we make and the impact these decisions will have on others around us.
