On June 6th 2010, ten athletes competed in Karate Ontario’s first Grand Prix of the season. New to the team is Keenan Best, Kevin Peco, Riley Peco, Samantha Peco, and Shaelyn Dyson. The team brought home 10 medals. Here are the results:
Shivon Dyson: Silver in Kata and Kumite (2)
Keenan Best: Gold in Kumite (1)
Kevin Peco: Gold in Kata and Bronze in Kumite (2)
Dharini Mohan: Silver in Kata (1)
Trynece Superville: Gold in Kumite (1)
Petersen Rissis: Silver in Kata and Gold in Kumite (2)
Andrew McAdam-Wong: Gold in Team Kata (1)
Kudos must go to Kevin and Keenan who brought home medals on their first Karate Ontario event. Equally successful is Shivon who earned his first Karate Ontario medal. Also, welcome back Andrew who brought home Gold with his team Leirick and Leivin Chung after taking a year off. In addition, even though Mitchell Fall didn’t bring home any medals, he demonstrated true courage when he competed while fighting the pain of a broken foot. Shaelyn, Samantha, and Riley brought home some valuable experience and will be ready for the next event in September.
The Good News just keeps coming. Sensei Roz has been diligent with her referee study and received her Provincial License. She is now a certified Referee A for Kumite and Judge A for Kata.
