As part of our complete Environmental Abatement Services, Biggs & Narciso have undertaken to remove PCB containing equipment from premises where we are conducting remediation work. Most of the PCB equipment we deal with is in the form of fluorescent light ballasts removed from offices where we are conducting renovations.

We ensure that any such equipment is properly extracted and sealed in government regulation drums, properly labeled and shipped to a registered storage facility to await destruction. Our clients can rest assured that any PCB containing equipment is being properly handled according to all existing government regulations and guidelines.

Polychlorinated biphenyls, commonly known as PCBs, are industrial chemicals which were synthesized and manufactured in the United States beginning in 1929. They were used in many different types of products including hydraulic fluid, casting wax, pigments, carbonless copy paper, plasticizer, vacuum pumps, compressors and heat transfer systems. Because of their stability and resistance to thermal breakdown their primary use was as a dielectric fluid in electrical equipment. They are most commonly found in transformers and capacitors. While never manufactured in Canada, PCBs were widely used in this country.

Biggs & Narciso - fireproofing

Spray applied products include cementitious and mineral fibre applications provide up to 4 hour fire ratings; acoustical applications yield noise reduction coefficient ratings up to 1.05 and thermal ratings are 3.85 per inch of material applied.

Biggs & Narciso - asbestos removal

Biggs and Narciso understand the risks and the importance of proper procedures when working with asbestos removal and how to dispose of asbestos so that there are no continued risks. These materials are extremely resistant to acid and fire making them highly attractive for use in manufacturing building materials subject to extreme heat or acidic conditions.

Biggs & Narciso - mould removal

We will not only remove and repair the affected areas, but will also identify and fix the root cause of the problem to prevent any reoccurrence of mould. The presence of moisture is essential for moulds to grow and they are therefore usually found in damp, poorly ventilated areas. Simply limiting sources of moisture and condensation and improving ventilation can reduce the presence of mould spores.

Biggs & Narciso - demolition

Since the majority of our asbestos abatement projects required some type of demolition, it was logical step for Biggs and Narciso to offer demolition as part of our service package. The scope of our demolition work now ranges from selective demolition of a single room, to completely gutting a building to its bare structure allowing for reconstruction.

Biggs & Narciso - lead removal

Clean up should be done with a HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air Filter) vacuum cleaner to ensure a thorough pickup is done without releasing more lead particulates into the air. We will retrofit plumbing to building code specifications and renovate to a finished condition ready for occupation – completely lead free. Waste containers should be properly labeled as containing lead contaminated material and disposed of as hazardous waste.
