Asbestos is the common name for silicate materials that have a fibrous structure. These materials are extremely resistant to acid and fire making them highly attractive for use in manufacturing building materials subject to extreme heat or acidic conditions. Asbestos can be found in various types of fire proofing materials, electrical and thermal insulation and brake linings. Its durability has made it popular in many heavy industrial applications.

Some limited uses for Asbestos were seen in the 1700's, however, it was not until the late 1800’s during the Industrial Revolution, that asbestos come into widespread use. The steam powered factories of the Industrial Age with their many turbines, boilers, kilns, ovens, and other high-temperature equipment used asbestos extensively for insulation and as a fire retardant.

Biggs & Narciso - mould removal

We will not only remove and repair the affected areas, but will also identify and fix the root cause of the problem to prevent any reoccurrence of mould. The presence of moisture is essential for moulds to grow and they are therefore usually found in damp, poorly ventilated areas. Simply limiting sources of moisture and condensation and improving ventilation can reduce the presence of mould spores.

Clean up should be done with a HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air Filter) vacuum cleaner to ensure a thorough pickup is done without releasing more lead particulates into the air. We will retrofit plumbing to building code specifications and renovate to a finished condition ready for occupation – completely lead free. Waste containers should be properly labeled as containing lead contaminated material and disposed of as hazardous waste.
