How is the visual field test done?
Various forms of these tests measure your responses to the presence of lights in different areas of your visual field. While your head is held still on a chin rest inside a large bowl-like instrument, you stare at a target straight ahead. A series of random lights of different intensities are flashed in your peripheral field of vision. You then press a button to indicate each time you see a light appear in your field of view. A graph displays your results and will be interpreted by your optometrist.
