General Bearing Corporation, recognized globally, manufactures high quality ball bearings. A ball bearing is a type of rolling-element bearing which uses balls to maintain the separation between the moving parts of the bearing.
The purpose of a ball bearing is to reduce friction and support radial and axial loads. This is achieved by using at least two races to retain the balls and transmit the loads through the balls. Usually one of the races is held fixed. As one of the bearing races rotates it causes the balls to rotate; and because the balls are rolling they have a much lower coefficient of friction than if two flat surfaces were rotating against each other.
While ball bearings have lower load capacity for their size than other kinds of rolling-element bearings, they can tolerate misalignment of the inner and outer races. Compared to other bearing types, the ball bearing is a cost competitive solution because of the lower cost of producing the balls used in the bearing.
Today the ball bearing is used in numerous applications which affect the functionality of everyday life. If something twists, turns or moves, it probably has a bearing in it. From automotive to industrial applications, General Bearing has products to fill the needs of today’s ever advancing technological challenges.
Quality is a primary focus at General Bearing Corporation.
