Engineering, joint venture, video camera
In response to an increasing need to renew and update McMaster Engineering’s undergraduate lab facilities, the McMaster Laboratory Advancement Benefaction Endowment Fund, or macLAB Endowment Fund, was initiated by Engineering students and faculty in 1997. The constant renewal and upgrading of undergraduate laboratory facilities ensures that McMaster undergraduate Engineering students are exposed to the most recent developments in their fields of study, and that graduates of McMaster Engineering possess the skills needed in the Engineering workforce.
A joint venture between the McMaster Engineering Society and the Faculty of Engineering, Engineering Co-op & Career Services connects students with employers, provides career-planning tools and resources, and provides opportunities for students to gain employment experience. Services include managing the Engineering Co-op Program, planning employment/career workshops for students, inviting guest speakers for career-related information events, taking part in the campus recruitment process for graduating students and recruiting employers to hire students.
The Bob Loree Undergraduate Engineering Lounge is a great place to hang out between classes or late at night. In here you'll find the cheapest pop on campus (75 cents a can), cable tv, fridge, microwave, the Plumbline, EngTimes and other publication. You'll also find our office, our store - the "Drain" and plenty of upper year students who are willing to help you out or just play a round of Euchre.
The Drain is the place to go to buy your McMaster Engineering clothes, event tickets, stickers, and anything else we can stick our logo on to. If you wish to work or you have an idea for some McMaster Engineering merchandise, then please contact the Drain Co-ordinator.
Got something big you want to transport somewhere? How about a carpool? A solar car? A motorized shopping cart? Whatever it is, we've got a trailer and you are welcome to borrow it to move your stuff. While preference will be given to our teams such as Solar Car and Mini Baja, you can borrow it for just about anything. Proper licensing and insurance is required, and you'll need a big truck to pull it.
A video camera is available for borrowing free of charge from the MES to all of its members. This is great for creating video presentations for classes, redsuit tryout videos or anything else you'd like to get on film. A 0 deposit is required to borrow the camera, but if you return it in the same condition you'll get it back. Be sure to read and sign the contract before trying to get it!
Presenting in front of your class is a pretty big deal. Standing in front of your laptop and smacking that space bar just like everyone else isn't going to make you stand out. Walk around the class and interact with your audience while using the wireless presentation tool! It's available to borrow free from the MES. Insta-boost the quality of your presentation and wow your profs.
