Effective job search strategies are continuously changing; we will show you the most up-to-date techniques to get you working.  Brainstorming ideas with a counsellor and getting feedback is an effective tool for every job seeker.

Discover your skills / set new goals .   We will help you explore your options based on your skills and abilities, as well as what is happening in the job market. Get up-to-date information on occupations, education and training opportunities including apprenticeships. Do you need to upgrade your skills or need additional training to be competitive in today's job market? Talk with a counsellor to explore your options. Understand how to make a good impression. Learn what employers are looking for and how to best sell your individual attributes. Nervous at interviews?  This is your time to shine – let us help prepare you so that your next interview is a success.Add impact to your job search strategy. Strengthen your resume to be sure it gets noticed.  Learn how to organize an effective job search including selling yourself to employers.

Employers are our clients too.  And after 35 years of working with employers in the community, we have developed partnerships that benefit both our clients and our employers.  We offer a wage incentive for eligible clients who need help getting their foot in the door.  Talk to your counsellor to see if this is an option for you.

Get your or certificates. We offer this training in either a workshop or on an individual basis.  Get an edge on the competition and include these certificates on your resume!Information Sessions
Our 'Ace the Interview' and 'Maximize Your Job Search' sessions allow job seekers of all experience levels to interact and learn from each other in a relaxed, casual atmosphere.  Just need a refresher or don’t know where to begin?  Give us a call or talk to a counsellor.

Understanding an employer’s expectations is an important part of ensuring long term success in your job. In this workshop you will learn to be a “Job Smart” employee. It is not always as simple as it sounds.

Topics for discussion include:
  • getting off on the right foot
  • expectations of an employer (and why)
  • employee rights and responsibilities
  • reasons that people get fired – more than the obvious
  • personal time vs. work time – how they can clash
  • missing work – what is reasonable (in your view and the employers)
  • negotiating conflict and criticism (hey, we have to get along and often an employer’s most important employee issue is a successful TEAM)

Being “Job Smart” will help to ensure your success and provide you with labour rules and regulations so you know what you should be paid for, what breaks are required and how holiday pay is calculated.

This is an interactive workshop with problem solving and real workplace issues with solutions that apply to any job. So whether this is your first job or 8th job, you’ll learn to become JobSmart - be successful and get ahead in the workplace.
