Repairs and Alterations
Our talented staff can provide a wide range of options in the area of Pattern and Corebox repairs and alterations, in order to keep costs down, or to modify equipment to new requirements. We have taken hundreds of single patterns, reproducing them in Urethane, and then mounting them in Molding Boxes to improve production, and reduce casting costs. When it comes to repairs, we do, however, remind our Customers, “We can heal the sick, but we cannot raise the dead”.
Templates and Gauges
We have extensive experience in the design and manufacturing of Templates and Gauges for monitoring manufacturing processes or verifying finished parts. Often we include Coresetting Gauges with our Coreboxes, to assist the Foundry in ensuring the cores are set properly.
We currently make thousands of wooden solutions to industrial problems every year, in order to enable our Customers to manufacture their products competitively in a Global marketplace. Wood is a remarkably versatile medium, sometimes overlooked because of its ubiquity and long history. If it can be made of wood, we can build it.
Over the years our large industrial customers have presented us with a variety of challenges to develop a number of solutions to their manufacturing problems. The unique set of knowledge, skills and attitude that are required in a successful Pattern Shop are often the key to developing creative solutions, not just in the Metalcasting industry, but in many other enterprises as well. We enjoy a challenge and will do our best to work with our Customers to master it.
Pattern Storage and Inventory
We have over 10, 000 sq. ft of dry, alarm protected, storage space to protect your Patterns and Coreboxes from loss, damage, or risk. We provide inventory management for several Customers, ensuring that the status and location of their Tooling investment is never at risk to loss, water damage, pirating, vandalism, copying, or any other peril. Our Customers know the location and status of their Tooling at all times.
Over the past five years we have been asked by several of our casting user Customers to work with them to find ways to minimize casting defects. Working in partnership with other experienced and qualified men and women with foundry experience, we have been able to organize teams of specialists to assist our Customers in getting more value for their casting dollar. Our contracts in this area have taken our staff to other areas of Canada, the United States, Europe, and in June, 2006, to China. Please contact Dan Peace to learn more of this unique service.
Several of our Customers have asked us to be involved on teams at the Casting Design stage of Product Development. Our involvement as Patternmakers, alongside the Foundry Engineers, and the CAD Designers, has resulted in significant cost savings, quality improvement and reduced learning curves for our Customers. The increased commitment to productivity that was created in all the members of these teams through their early involvement in the Projects was remarkable.
We are proud to have been a Supplier to Dofasco since 1916, and to each of our other loyal customers over many years. We are also excited every time we get the opportunity to establish a new relationship. Dominion Pattern Works is primarily in the ‘service’ business, not the manufacturing business. Our goal is to exceed our Customers expectations, and to give them unequaled value for the money they pay us for our service.
