ERGONOMICS • Ergonomics is the science that optimizes the interaction between a person and their environment. A good ergonomics program improves performance and minimizes injuries. Ergonomics should be completed as a proactive method of ensuring injuries do not occur, but also can be implemented as part of a return to work program or a work accommodation plan. Barantas has a team of kinesiologists dedicated to the leading edge of ergonomic methods. PHYSICAL DEMANDS ANALYSIS • A physical demands analysis is a documented analysis of all of the physical characteristics of a job. The tasks in a worker's day to day job can vary greatly in their timing, frequency, duration, forces, postures and environmental factors. A proper understanding of these variables helps in the proper development of a work schedule, a return to work plan, a work accommodation plan or simply a standard job description.
Our kinesiologists are skilled analysts of human movement and with the advanced equipment and skills, the PDA's developed by our team will provide necessary information when your company plans on hiring or preparing modified work programs.

RETURN TO WORK • Return to work programs are a necessary program for employers whenever they have workers who are absent due to illness or injury. Many workers are unable to safely complete their previous jobs without a period of re-integration. The return to work re-integration is required for WSIB programs after a workplace injury but is also very prudent with disability and non work related injuries. This re-integration phase ensures that the worker is safety transitioned back into their full and regular workplace duties without undue harm. The Barantas staff are trained experts at identifying tasks that are safe and useful for transition while avoiding tasks that put the worker at undue risk. We define the tasks and the transition time for workers back to their full and regular duties in an optimal way.

WORK ACCOMMODATION • Although similar to return to work programs, work accommodation refers the permanent modification of tasks and the physical properties of a position to suit a worker whose physical capabilities have permanently changed. Workers with impairments that are work related or not can perform at an optimized level with a work accommodation plan. This work accommodation plan may include ergonomic elements, return to work elements or preventative exercise elements. The Barantas team of kinesiologists are all experts in this methodology and will assess each situation individually and develop a custom program for each situation.

NOISE SURVEYS • Noise is an occupational hazard that is not often enough analyzed and managed. The outcome of chronic noise exposure is permanent hearing loss. Barantas staff members are trained to assess noise and evaluate the methods to reduce the exposure from the effects of noise. Measuring the noise is only the first step. Finding the right type of noise damping protection is also necessary for the workers to still be able to hear necessary activities, alarms and be reasonably comfortable.

PREVENTATIVE EXERCISE PROGRAMS • All jobs and work activities require that a worker has a certain level of fitness and conditioning. Whether the job is sedentary or strenuous, a worker needs to have a level of condition that allows them to complete their tasks day after day without feeling sore or getting injured. Barantas has a program of preventative exercise for your staff that is customized to the strengths and weaknesses of the tasks of the jobs.
Individualized preventative exercise programs will be developed and monitored to optimize employee fitness.
