A new animal rescue group that has its origins in recent discord at the Guelph Humane Society has split in two after what’s being described as a “coup” by three of its members.
“It’s a coup, and a shocker for some,” said Barb Miller, who was a prominent member of S. A. V. E. (Save Animals Versus Euthanizing) and has decided to remain with the group, instead of joining a new group headed by S. A. V. E.’s former president, local veterinarian Dr. Kate Flanigan.
“I went with them. I felt more progress was going to happen with them,” Miller said of the three S. A. V. E. members who took control of the organization in October by incorporating and trademarking the S. A. V. E. name and logo.
